Dispatches from the Victoria Fringe 2017 Day Four

Dispatches from the Victoria Fringe 2017 Day Four For the fourth day of the Fringe I went to see one of the most provocative artists I know, Tasha Diamant, in Naked Ugly Dancing, and then spent the rest of the day camped out at Venue 1, the Victoria Event Centre for Holly Brinkman’s A Woman’s Guide to Peeing Outside & Other Adventures, Enigmatic Events in Jukebox Drive and Sean Proudlove in The Taxi Driver is Always Listening. I'll have … [Read more...]

Victoria Fringe 2015. My local picks.

Victoria Fringe 2015 My local picks. I am an avid supporter of the Victoria Fringe Festival, now in its 29th year. It didn’t start out that way though. For the first time I also contributed 32 reviews. Here are my recommendations for shows that were in Victoria this year (or last), either at the … [Read more...]

Victoria Fringe Festival 2014. My “local” picks.

Victoria Fringe Festival 2014. My "local" picks. The 28th annual Victoria Fringe Festival August 21-31, 2014. I love the Victoria Fringe Festival. I get to applaud local artists I’ve met over the years, and am always on the look out for people whose works is, as yet, unknown to me. Since falling in love with the fringe in 2006, I regularly see between 30 and 40 fringe shows a year, and attend more theatre during the year.  In addition … [Read more...]

The Human Body Project Celebrates 6th Anniversary with a March Vigil

The first year  Tasha Diamant appeared in the Human Body Project at the Victoria Fringe Festival, I had just completed the photo shoot for the Babes (and Blokes) Go Bare for Cancer fundraising calendar, so the idea of a middle-aged woman onstage, naked and unscripted, struck me, not as odd, but as intriguing. The Human Body Project is an ongoing performance art and non-violent action project. As creator, I make an intention to show up in … [Read more...]
