Our first year touring the Fringe was in 2011 with our show Grim and Fischer (note: Grim and Fisher is coming back for one night only November 8th at the Metro). We'd no idea how lucky we were, being … [Read more...]

I was first introduced to the work of Ramshackle Theatre of Whitehorse when Brian Fidler presented Broken at Intrepid Theatre’s UNO Fest in 2013 (my review is here). Now, Ramshackle returns for Winterlab (January 25th-February 1st, 2014) with Sci-Fi Double Feature—a cardboard puppet show for adults and children alike. I caught up with Brian when he was deeply immersed in a puppet intensive at the BanffSchool of the Arts (co-incidentally … [Read more...]

In the case of Fractured Fables: The Prison Puppet Project currently playing at William Head Onstage (WHoS) they accurately describe not only the creation process but also the end result. Founded in 1981, William Head on Stage is the only inmate-initiated, inmate-run theatre program inside a Canadian federal prison which opens it’s gates to a public audience. Over the … [Read more...]
