Qualicum Beach realtor Marc La Couvée and Sharyn from the Crown Mansion have organized a silent auction in support of The Road to Port Hardy by Frans Jonker@fransjonker August 16th – 19th. Frans’ 525 km solo unsupported ride from Victoria to Port Hardy is a fundraiser for the BC Cancer Foundation. All monies raised remain on Vancouver Island, for the care of cancer patients and their families, as well as to support research.
The Crown Mansion is one of the accomodation sponsors for The Road to Port Hardy. Marc La Couvée is a Silver level sponsor. In Marc’s words: “Having lost 3 family members to cancer, I am proud to be a Silver level sponsor for The Road to Port Hardy”.
The first leg of Frans’ journey will bring him to Qualicum Beach where he will stay for the night before continuing to Campbell River and beyond. An incredibly supportive Oceanside community has donated several items for a Silent Auction to add to The Road to Port Hardy effort. Each of 3 auction lots is valued at $400 or more.
Lot 1. “Island Time” painting by local artist, Shawna Flinkert (donated by Shawna Flinkert) – estimated value $400
Lot 2. “Sway to the Ocean” glass sculpture by local artist, Karena Donnelly (donated by Karena Donnelly & Shawna Flinkert) – estimated value $400
