Happy New Year 2016! Even if it is a tad late. It’s been a month off from writing on this website, after a year packed full of events and adventures–time spent enjoying festive celebrations with family and friends, quiet hikes in the forest, and deep in personal reflection.
Every year I set an intention (goals if you will). In 2016 I vow to dedicate time to my own writing every day (not necessarily on the website) and to continue to expand my boundaries regarding creation–in 2014 I took improv and writing classes, in 2015 a storytelling workshop with Deb Williams of The Flame, in 2016 it will be playwriting with Charles Tidler and continued get-togethers with other storytellers.
Do you have creative goals for the year? Will you be expanding the boundaries of what you see and experience of our vibrant arts and culture scene? We’re part way through a month that saw the first show for a group of Wes Borg and Celine Richmond’s Life Networks students (The Greatest Most Awesome Show Ever–and it was!). The next show is planned for March–stay tuned for more details. Theatre SKAM celebrated 20 years with the Ami Project and Langham Court Theatre has a sold-out hit with Stepping Out.
January and February, which at one time were rather quiet months, are full of comedy, theatre, dance, spoken word and music. There’s now a tab here to my Monday Magazine ArtSmarts articles (with their permission) to give you at least a small hint of the many wonderful offerings we can access in the capital region.
