Calling all funny folks, class clowns and office cut-ups! Always had a secret desire to try stand-up comedy? Learn all the secrets of writing and performing original stand-up comedy in this fun beginner workshop.
The class is the first of its kind in Victoria – and has proven to be immensely popular. Past participants are tearing it up on comedy stages around town, and have described the experience as: “inspiring”, “life changing” and “a weekly date with laughter.”
Instructor Kirsten Van Ritzen is a professional actor and comedienne, as well as a writer, director, and producer. She has worked for two decades in the entertainment industry, specializing in all genres of comedy. In Victoria, she delighted audiences as “Ava Garter” in SINCITY: CARNIES, the M-Award nominated improvised serial; she is a frequent performer at PHILLIPS COMEDY NIGHT, CAGE MATCH, GOTTA GETTA GIMMICK, and more.
Kirsten has taught for Toronto’s Second City Workshop Centre, Randolph Academy, Vancouver Theatresports, Kaliedoscope Performing Arts Studio, and currently teaches acting at Pacific Film and New Media Academy. She is thrilled to share her expertise with beginners as they discover the addictive thrill of earning laughs. www.kirstenvanritzen.com
