Victoria Arts Adventures April 2014

Victoria Arts Adventures April 2014

Here’s a round-up of some of the arts events in April, as of March 20th.  April is National Poetry Month in Canada—take some time to connect with the multitude of poetry events in Victoria this April, including Victorious Voices the 5th annual Victoria High School slam poetry championships, and LitARTCity, a fundraiser with Victoria’s poet laureate Janet Rogers, to benefit the READ Society.

On the theatre-front, Sin City, Kingdom of Thrones heads to its grand finale on April 29th—what a ride it has been—it’s not too late to get on-board for the final episodes.

Theatre Inconnu, Giggling Iguana, Intrepid Theatre, Theatre SKAM,  the Belfry Theatre, Paper Street Theatre Co., Langham Court Theatre and Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre in partnership with Puente Theatre all present plays this month (scroll down for selections).  Come and Play with Ryan and Chris, and Derwin Blanshard’s Extremely Classy Sunday Evening Programme add some additional variety with on-going monthly events.

The Canadian College of Performing Arts ends their school year with Mel Brooks’ campy classic Young Frankenstein, and Pacific Opera Victoria finishes their season with Cosi fan Tutte.  Alchemy of Chance brings together artists and professionals working in multiple disciplines, and Ballet Étoile Canada stages Art! In Motion.

Spring is the perfect time to venture forth, and try something new. Arts adventures abound in April!
