International Free Hugs Day 2011 Victoria BC
Saturday July 2nd 2011 marked the 2nd time we celebrated International Free Hugs Day in Victoria BC. Our inaugural event in 2010 came about after Alex Yates @Lunacee tweeted about the day and before you knew it, we had crowd sourced a small group of people willing to meet at the Visitors' Information Centre for a few hours of hugging. I LOVE Esquimalt! Where else can can adults dress up as pirates for the annual Buccaneer Days, and parade around yelling "Arrr matey"! Our family lived in Esquimalt for over 20 years. What a treat to be present for the arrival of the Queen (bee) at the Fairmont Empress! Recently named Executive Chef Kamal Silva was instrumental in introducing honeybees to the Fairmont Vancouver Airport hotel, and decided to repeat the experience in his new home, Victoria BC.
